Brief Overview

With Chiku Cabs, you can rest assured to experience the best trip to Kedarnath + Badrinath + Haridwar. But before planning your trip, you need to know the religious importance of these places. Keep on reading to know more.

Kedarnath Now, talking about the Kedarnath Dham and its importance - it is the most remote of all the 4 Dham pilgrim sites. The Dham is located in the Himalayas at about 3,583 m (11,755 ft) above sea level. The town is covered by snow-capped mountains popularly known as Kedarnath mountain. The dham was earlier named as Kedar Khand.

As per Vayu Puran, Lord Vishnu transformed into Narayan and reached Badrinath. At that time, Badrinath was where lord Shiva was residing and upon the request of lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva moved from Badrinath and shifted to Kedarnath.

Moreover, at the time of Mahabharata, Pandavas came to seek blessings from Lord Shiva to free themselves from the sin of killing their own cousins. Upon reaching, Lord Shiva hid from them and transformed into a bull. Pandavas realised that it was Lord Shiva in the form of a bull and they followed him, but the bull suddenly jumped to the surface, leaving a hump on the ground. The hump was later worshipped by Pandavas, which was later built into a temple. It is also believed that the Kedarnath temple was also built by Pandavas and revived by Adi Sankaracharya. Devotees worship Kedarnath Dham to fulfil their wishes of good health, longevity, and improve spiritual strength and to attain moksha.

Badrinath Now, talking about the Badrinath Dham - the temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is one of the most important pilgrim sites in India. It is one of the Char Dhams located in the Northern part of India. It is situated in the Garhwal hill tracks of Chamoli District (Uttarakhand, India) along the banks of the Alaknanda River. It is situated at an altitude of 3,300 mts/10,826 ft where the temperature is quite cold. Due to extreme cold conditions, the dham remains closed for the 6 months of winter.

The Badrinath temple has many stories associated with it, which are also mentioned in ancient Vedic texts.

One story states that Lord Vishnu was once meditating in the Badrinath Dham in Padmasana, and while he was deep in meditation, he didn't realize that the changing weather conditions had turned extreme around him. To protect him from the harsh weather, his wife Goddess Lakshmi transformed herself into a Badri tree and spread her branches above him. Lord Vishnu was grateful to Goddess Lakshmi for this kind gesture and for this act of love, he named the place as Badrikashram after his wife. That is the reason you can see the deity in the same meditation pose inside the Badrinath temple.

Another story tells us that Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati were also meditating in Badrinath. One day, Lord Vishnu decided to test their devotion. He disguised himself as a small boy and cried, asking for a place to meditate. Lord Shiva and Parvati recognized that the boy was Lord Vishnu in disguise, so they left Badrinath and moved to another holy place called Kedarnath. The divine place is sure to bless you with positivity and good health.

Haridwar: Haridwar - often known as the “Gateway to the Gods” is a magical land of Ganga. Haridwar City holds religious significance among the Hindu devotees. Residing on the banks of river Ganga, Haridwar hosts ganga aarti every single day in the evening. People from all over the world visit Haridwar to take a dip in the holy Ganga to get rid of their sins.

Being an ancient city, it is one of the most sacred ones and holds great significance in the Hindu religion. Many foreigners are also attracted towards Haridwar for experiencing the diverse culture of Hindus, their traditions, beliefs and rituals.

By breaking the word, “Hari”, and “Dwar” which means “God” and “Gate” respectively. Haridwar also acts as an entry point for the Char Dham yatra. It is also believed that Haridwar is blessed by the presence of all the major Gods, “Brahma”, “Vishnu”, and “Maheshwar”, thus named as the Gateway to Gods.

Apart from the religious importance, Haridwar also holds great significance for learning several arts, cultures, yoga, and meditation and the place is also a great source of Ayurvedic medicines and herbal remedies.
