Kedarnath Temple holds immense religious significance for Hindus and is regarded as one of the most sacred landmarks in Hinduism. The opening dates and timings of Kedarnath Temple are determined on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya and announced on Mahashivratri. These decisions are made by the priest of the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath, based on precise calculations from the Panchang. Typically, the temple opens on the Shubh Muhurat of Akshaya Tritiya, marking the beginning of its six-month spiritual season.

Kapat Closing Date and Time

The closing date of Kedarnath Temple is fixed. The temple Kapat will close on Bhai Dooj after the morning prayers and rituals.

Kedarnath Temple Timings

The usual timing of Kapat opening is 4:00 AM and closing time is 9:00 PM. However, due to increasing number of devotees, the timings are usually extended.

Kedarnath Temple Aarti Timing

Pooja and Aarti in temple begins at 4:00 AM with Maha Abhishek.

Devotees are allowed to touch the Ligam and do Abhishek with Ghee before 3:00 PM. After that, only darshans are allowed.

Shayan Aarti takes place at 6:30 in the evening.

Kedarnath Darshan Timings

For darshans, the temple will open at 6:00 AM and will remain open until 3:00 PM.

The temple opens for darshan again after 2 hours at 5:00 PM.

By Air: If you want to travel by flight, can only reach to Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport. From there the distance to reach Kedarnath is 238 km. Various transportations are available to reach Kedarnath Temple from there. You can also hire the taxi service in Dehradun to reach Kedarnath.

By Rail: If you are traveling by train, then you will arrive to Rishikesh and from there you have to find your own transportation. Luckily, you can easily find any local transportation that will take you to Kedarnath.

By Road: The easiest and cheapest option of them all is to travel by road. You can travel by the National Highway 109 which takes you to Kedarnath from Rudraprayag. You can hire the taxi service of Chiku Cab to easily get to Kedarnath without any hassle.
