Who is Maa Vindhyavasini ?
There are some stories, Long ago when darkness began to cover the whole world, where powerful demons took over and spread fear in people even started troubling the devtas.
Devta one by one tried to fight with those demons but they were invincible and every time when an asura was killed, 100 more were born with their blood when they came in contact with earth. They did massive destruction in the world.
Then all the devta’s go and pray to Maa Durga and then she manifests her Kaali Avatar. She then killed all the demons and Asura’s, as they were getting rebirth from the blood touching the surface of earth.
So she started drinking the blood of the Asura and the cycle of rebirth of demons stopped. After that she got the name Chamunda and Chamundeshwari.
She then took avatar as divine Yog Maya, as a daughter of Nanda Baba and Yasoda Maiya. Vasudeva silently placed Krishna beside Yasoda and took mata Yog maya or maa Durga back with him to the prison in Mathura.
In the morning when kansa arrived and get to know that the 8th child of Devaki is a girl , her sister asked him to not kill her. But Kansa didn’t listen to her and took that baby in his hand, exactly when he was going to dump her on a rock.
She slipped from his hand and took her original form of Yog Maya. and She warned him to be rationed because His Kaal or death has already taken birth.
After that she disappeared. Then Yog Maya chooses Vindhyachal parvat mala and stays on Vindhyachal Parvat to perform an intense penance till the arrival of Kalki Avatar.
According to Kalki purana, mata vindhyavashinisi is the shakti tatva who will help Kalki Avatar in establishment of Dharma and it is believed that she is still there to protect her devotees.
