The temple is said to be the site of worship for Lord Rama after he defeated Ravana. Lord Rama&#8217;s request to Shiva was to forgive him of his sin of killing a demon. It has the longest corridor in India at over 1.2 km. It has thousands of granite pillars. They are all well-carved. It lines the route to the sanctum, which makes for a visual walkway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mandir had different halls or mandapams: Nandi Mandapam, Kalyana Mandapam &amp; Setupati Mandapam.
