This peaceful place is around 172 km away from Uttarkashi chardham. Agastya Muni started a gurukul here as well. Many devotees stop by to visit the Agasteshwar temple which is dedicated to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Guptkashi\"><\/span>2. Guptkashi<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There is the Vishwanath Temple in Guptkashi which was attacked by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. After that, the original Shivling of the Vishwanath temple was brought back. You will also find Manikarnika Kund and Ardhnareshwar temple. Guptkashi is 30 km before Sonprayag and 25 from Agastya Muni chardham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Sonprayag\"><\/span>3. Sonprayag<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This quaint and beautiful place is situated on the bank of the merger of tributaries Vasuki and Mandakini. This place holds great religious significance as well, because it is said that Lord Shiva married Mata Parvati at this very place in the presence of Lord Vishnu. The distance to Chopta from Ukimath is just 24 kms. It is the part of Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary.
